
TERMS & CONDITIONS
Elevaire Circus Championships is a brand new event held in the heart of Western Sydney at the Q Theatre, Joan Sutherland
Performing Arts Centre. The team aims to foster technique, showmanship, skill and artistry to build well-rounded circus
performers. Below are the terms and conditions that each performer must read and agree to as they enter the event. For
competitors under 18 years of age, adults (parents, carers, or coaches) entering on their behalf accept the terms and conditions
on their behalf. Further information is found in our competition guide. If unsure, please email

General Information:

Elevaire Circus Championships welcomes all performers over the age of 6 as of 1st January 2025.
-
Participation in the competition is undertaken at each individuals own risk as they confirm that they are physically and medically capable of participating to their full extent.

The running order will be distributed via email prior to the event and subject to change incase of unforeseen circumstances.

Performers should obtain approval from their coaches, choreographers and studios prior to entering and performing.
-
Spectators must purchase a ticket to the event and remain in the audience area.

Performer Behaviour:
Elevaire Circus Championships are committed to fostering a friendly environment to build circus performers. To maintain this atmosphere, competitors are required to:

Treat fellow competitors, spectators, and event staff with respect. Bullying or harassment will lead to immediate disqualification and removal from the event.

Performers should not be under the influence or consume any drugs or alcohol throughout the event.

Adhere to all directions given by event staff and venue personnel.
-
Attend the mandatory competitor briefing prior to the session that you are performing in.

Each studio may collect two coach passes, with coaches nominated during registration. Coaches must present photo ID to receive a wristband, which must be worn throughout the event. Due to space limitations, parents/caregivers cannot access backstage unless nominated on the entry form.

Dressing rooms should be left clean and tidy, excessive mess will result in a cleaning fee.

Performers will have full access to the audience during the competition, however should not congregate in the wings during other performances.

Performer Guidelines:

Upon arrival, competitors must check in at the side stage door to receive their lanyard.
-
Performers must wait side stage three acts before their performance to be checked in.
-
Performers in the Petite and Intermediate age categories may perform their routine again for judging if they leave the stage up until 30 seconds of their routine has elapsed. All other competitors will not be able to return to the stage and will be judged on what they have presented.

Performers may restart their routine if any technical difficulties arise if caused by the event or venue staff.

Performers can only perform one solo per section. Performers are encouraged to perform in as many sections as applicable to their skill set.

Routines can not be repeated across sections. If this occurs, the second time the routine is performed, it will be disqualified from any placings.

Once video auditions have been reviewed, the ECC team have the right to amend categories based on skill and performance level presented to ensure a fair competition for all.

Performances may be removed from the competition if not appropriate to section, age, safety standards, and competition syllabus.

Performers will compete in the order written in the program unless told otherwise.

Judging:
-
All judges decisions are final. Protests are not accepted and nor should be posted on any social media.

There will be a main judge who will mark off the judging criteria and a deductions judge that will monitor any deductions that may occur throughout the performance relevant to the category.

Competitors should not communicate with the judge throughout the competition.

Feedback will be given back to competitors via their music uploads portable in a voice critique format roughly one week after the competition date.

Safety and Compliance:

Competitors will select one height that they will work off for the entirety of the routine.

All BYO equipment will be checked by the ECC team and our riggers prior to the event commencing by providing relevant documents regarding certification via email. Equipment must meet safety standards and pass onsite inspections by a qualified rigger. Any failure of the apparatus check is solely on the performer, not on the rigger or the competition. If a competitor brings an apparatus that they cannot prove it's capacity or it is faulty, it will not be used.

Spansets and slings must have a valid certification tag and date of purchase & no visible tears. Silks & hammocks etc. should be free from any holes, tears or laddering of the fabric.

All BYO equipment must be rigged in a ready for use format to be presented for inspection and cannot be altered after it has been checked in. Competitors will have the option of using the in-house equipment to replace their BYO where applicable.

Competitors will be allocated time (MAX 1 min) to check apparatus height for lyra and open apparatus sections against heights submitted upon entry.

ALL ECC competitors in the aerial circus divisions are required to use a mat for safety.

Props:
-
Use of props is allowed in each of the sections at Elevaire Circus Championships, however the use of props should be both appropriate and intentional for the execution of the routine while still closely aligning to theme or routine.

All props must be approved by submitting a photo with dimensions via emailing elevairecircuschampionships@gmail.com by Wednesday 26th March 2025. Any unapproved props will result in a disqualification.

Props if used, contribute to the 25 marks associated with the Showmanship section of the judging criteria.

Props have an allocated set up time of maximum 30 seconds with two people. If set up exceeds this time a deduction of 2 marks will occur.
-
Prohibited props include glitter, powders/ any fine materials, any liquids, fire or pyrotechnics, and human props.
Music:
-
Music will be submitted as a part of the entry form for the live event through creating an account with music uploads.
-
Music file names need to include the performer name, title of routine and section.
-
Music file needs to be submitted in an MP3 format. ECC will not play YouTube links.
-
The music file that is submitted must be in full as our AV team is unable to fade or mix music on the day.
-
Music choice should be age appropriate and without explicit language. If routine is not age appropriate, the performer will be disqualified.

Competitors are required to bring a USB with their music on it in case of emergency.
-
Late music submission or changes of music after the deadline will incur a $40 fee and music will not be changed within one week of the competition date.

Competitors routine and music must be within the required lengths of each age category. A 2 point deduction will occur for each 5 second bracket of routine.

Music must be uploaded by Wednesday 26th March 2025.

Fees:

Competitors fees must be paid in full prior to performing.
-
Late fees occur for late entries and music that are given past each deadline.

Communications & Privacy:

ECC may use photos and videos captured during the event for promotional purposes.
-
Personal information is collected solely for business needs and is managed securely in compliance with the Commonwealth Privacy Act (1988).

Violations:
-
Failure to follow the rules may lead to point deductions or disqualification. The organisers retain the right to modify the rules as needed, with any changes will be promptly communicated to performers.

ECC Agreement:
By participating, performers agree to:
- Voluntary performance and participation despite possibility of high level risks.
- Comply with all rules and regulations stated above and in the Elevaire Competition Guide 2025.
- Take full responsibility for their own health, safety, and personal equipment.
- Recognise the inherent risks of aerial arts and release the organisers from any liability including but not limited to death,
serious injury, emotional damage to the individual, personal property or third parties.
- Consent to receiving medical treatment if an injury occurs and agree to cover all associated costs of any medial treatment
required.
- Have adequate personal insurance to cover any injuries or personal damage that may arise throughout the entirety of Elevaire Circus Championships, otherwise will pay for all medical treatment required personally.
Waiver of Liability:
By signing this agreement and entering/ participating in Elevaire Circus Championships, it is understood that I waive my rights to not to sue and release all future claims towards Elevaire Circus Championships, event staff/ volunteers, venue staff and all relevant personnel regarding all claims of personal physical damages including death and injuries, negligence, carelessness, or reckless behaviour, or property damage that may occur as a result of participating in Elevaire Circus Championships in any capacity. I also understand that I release my rights to not to sue and proceed with any future claims under strict liability in regards to faulty equipment, facilities or equipment utilised. By participating, competitors/ participants acknowledge and accept the inherent risks involved in circus arts. It is agreed that Elevaire Circus Championships, its staff, and venue representatives are not responsible for any injuries or damages sustained during participation, including arrival and departure. Competitors confirm they are physically and medically fit to compete and will obtain medical clearance if required prior to performing. Additionally, competitors take full responsibility for ensuring they are adequately warmed up before their performance. By entering the competition, it is acknowledged that I have read and understood the terms and conditions as defined in this document. If the competitor is under the age of 18, the parent/ guardian must also agree to the terms and conditions on behalf of the performer.
